Size
7.4 Acres

Description
Until the land bank’s purchase of a 3.7-acre lot here (plus partial interests in an adjoining 3.7-acre lot, currently not available to the public), the entire two miles of the Edgartown great pond barrier beach were privately owned. Visible from the property is the breadth of the great pond to the north and Chilmark’s Wequobsque Cliffs to the west. Access is by canoe and kayak only, which visitors themselves must supply. Private beaches are adjacent and boundary signs indicate the limits of public use. (pets not allowed April 15 - June 15; leashes required other times)

Uses

Nature study, picnicking, dog-walking (pets not allowed April 1 - August 31), hunting (with permission), fishing, swimming, scenic vista.

Directions
Follow the Road to the Plains to its terminus at the Meetinghouse Road. Turn right and travel 0.2 miles; turn left here and follow the dirt road to the great-pond.
